The passage is there to remind us that these things could not properly deal with sin - they were ceremonial until the time when Jesus would come. (Hebrews 9:9-10) The Tabernacle is made, "as the Lord commanded Him". They were obedient to God - if you love me, keep my commandments.
cf John 15:14
1 Cor 1
v1-9 Paul sets out his approach in these verses, which preludes to him talking about divisive factors in the church. He starts out by reminding the Corinthians of what they have in Jesus and the priority of the gospel.
The main causes of the dissension in the church was disagreement with each other that led to division and quarrel. 3:3 reminds that they were still worldly - they had taken their eyes off of Christ. Keep your eyes on Jesus - don't lose sight of Him or put your eyes on self or others. Don't lose sight of what He has called you to.
Paul's reasons for preaching the word of the cross in the way he did (1:17-2:5)
Because Christ had sent him to preach the gospel in a way that allowed the cross of Christ to have its power.
Because he knew it was God's power to those who are being saved.
God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe.
To those whom God has called, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God is preached and is wiser and stronger than the lowest of man's wisdom/powers.
God's plan was to do things this way so no-one could boast, apart from in the Lord.
Paul's message was a demonstration of the Spirit's power, so our faith would rest on God's power.
Human wisdom is not the standard God views us with. Rather, He looks at things from His perspective. He has a secret and hidden wisdom, which He has revealed to those who have believed (by His Spirit).
The Father, Son & Spirit are involved in a human's salvation - God also chooses to use another human bringing the message.
The Father chose to call weak people, through the work of Christ being preached in the Spirit's power - it is Trinitarian to the core, but uses humans to bring this about.
Is Jesus my righteousness, holiness and redemption? Is He all I boast of and in?
