Exodus 32-34 God's interaction with Moses - as a man speaks with his friend

Aaron is an illustration of compromise - we cannot be too ruthless with sin.  It is serious and must be dealt with accordingly.

The compromise of Aaron led to the people sinning, which in due course led to some losing their lives and the people enduring punishment as a result.

Moses' earnestness and desire to do the right thing before the Lord stands out in this chapter - he is set apart by God to do His work in His way.

Ch 33 -

God's attitude towards the people was that they were stiff-necked & deserving of punishment.
God's attitude towards Moses was warm, friendly and inviting - they spoke together like friends.

Moses asked 3 petitions:

Let me know whom you will send with me & teach me your ways so I may know you
Give us something that distinguishes us from all other people on the face of earth
Show me your glory

Moses shows a growth in desire and faith, as he comes before God with boldness and clarity of desire.  It also demonstrates the riches of God's grace in His willingness to interact with Moses and give generously.

Ch 34

God fully answered Moses' request by fulfilling 33:19 - He showed Moses Himself.  Moses was warned about taking God seriously & sin seriously also.

2 Cor 3:18  When we see God, we reflect His glory being transformed into His like-ness with ever-increasing glory.  Everything in me is to be made more like Jesus so that we reflect Him more clearly.
