Ch 25-26
Maintaining the honour of the Lord
Sin is serious – we must never
underestimate how serious God views our offences against Him.
1 Cor 10:6-12 reminds us why they are there
– to teach us not to set our hearts on evil things.
Phineas was stirred to respond by desiring
God’s holiness and being disturbed by human sinfulness.
Do I see both with equal clarity?
Ch 26
Ch 26
Not one of the people counted by Moses and Aaron remained – except Caleb & Joshua. God is capable of proving His point and remaining with those who trust Him, against all odds!
Ch 27 & 36
Zelophehad’s daughters wanted to keep his
name going – they wanted the inheritance to continue and property to remain in
the family.
Moses’ over-riding concern before his death
was that there would be a succession – that someone would be ready to take over
from him, so that God’s people would not be without a shepherd.
Moses was being called to take the initial
lead. Joshua was being asked to take up
the baton. Both were required to trust
God entirely.
